Physical Therapy and Physical Rehabilitation
When a patient is recovering from an injury or physical trauma, physical rehabilitation follows physical therapy as the active phase of care.
Physical therapy is the more passive modality, often incorporating assisted stretches and exercises to build up initial strength and encourage the healing process.
Physical rehabilitation is a lot like personal training, but with a very specific focus. A the body heals and recovers, physical rehabilitation serves to increase the muscular tone around key joints, and offset any weakness.
During physical rehabilitation, we teach patients you how to improve and take responsibility for their condition, so they can overcome the deficit that’s contributing to the pain.
Physical therapy and rehabilitation sessions are generally 45 minutes for 4-6 weeks. The time frame of therapy needed varies depending on the condition. The patient also leaves with a treatment plan, and often with diagrams and information to take with them for reference.
Massage Therapy
The power of massage therapy to improve muscle tone, reduce tightness, increase circulation, flush out toxins, decrease trigger points and, of course, to relax is now well known. Massage therapy is also frequently an important component of holistic chiropractic treatment plan.
Our certified massage therapists are able to focus on specific modalities as needed, such as deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy and crainiosacral. When used in conjunction with each other, chiropractic adjustments and massage therapy work together synergistically to promote healing.
